You can start training for a pilots license at any age……but you have to wait till your 16 to be issued one.

But to Calvin’s surprise, he later found out that the other plane was right.

You see, Calvin was given clearance to land at O’Hare, but that was Cleveland.

I’m pretty sure that Calvin is now flying for Delta on a Salt Lake City-based crew.

Years later, Denzel Washington performed the same maneuver in “Flight.”

You can get your pilot’s “permit” at 16 and your licence at 17.

Calvin fails the test for his pilot’s license when he pulls back on the throttle instead of pushing it forward for more power.

It was good to know someone was up front but the feeling of safety was gone after the 5g barrel roll.

That’s a very sloppy barrel roll. Properly done it’s a 1G maneuver.

People ask me why, after being an Air Force pilot, I never flew for the airlines. I tell them it’s because I don’t like to fly straight and level and the airlines prefer I don’t do otherwise. As things turned out, I am really glad I am not in the airline business.

I think I’ll be concerned about drivers’ licenses for my boys more than pilots’ licenses. Besides, they won’t need pilot training or licenses to fly the Ralph Kramden way.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Those of you on the right side of the aircraft will notice a squadron of Russian MiGs. Those of you on the left side will notice a formation of UFOs. The next sound you will hear will be that of the crew ejecting.

I just want to say, “Good luck, we’re all counting on you!”

When Calvin is flying, there is no such things as friendly skies.

Now that’s some commercial air travel I could get into.

Actually, I’ve wondered what kind of stunts cargo pilots like FedEx’s or UPS’s might pull just to shave a few precious minutes off a flight.

In my day, my planes would crash together, with parts breaking off. That was more fun. No, I am not a pilot.

I like Mom’s response. It wasn’t just “No,” it was more like “HELL, no,” as in, “Don’t even THINK about it, Calvin!”

Well,,,,, just to give Calvin some help here, one does not “pull back on the throttles” if one wants to “surge ahead”, one has to push the throttles up (forward). And,,,, no self respecting barrel roll ever took 5 G’s, a nice decent barrel roll is a pretty gentle 2 to 3 G maneuver. Now I know he’s way to smart for his britches, but if so, then he would also be more accurate.

Calvin first needs to know, pulling back on the throttle will actually reduce thrust of the Jet engine thereby reducing the speed of the aircraft.
