Hobbes has nothing to worry about. Tigers are born cool.

I thought Calvin already has an attitude?

That crazy kid has enough attitude as it is.

Try it sometimes. It drives people crazy. They wonder what you are up to.

I see Calvin is going with sarcastically irreverent. Does that work for him?

Lots of syllables. That can be cool in and of itself sometimes.

These days in the US it would be downright nonconformist

No other comic would have “courteously deferential”.

Might not be cool, but it’s certainly not the norm in today’s world!

…that’s the Canadian attitude – and we are DEFINITELY cool :)…

I try being courteously deferential with my boys but they are so loud that it often quickly turns into assertively bellowing. It’s an interesting and sad comment on life today that so many people are shocked when I am courteous to them. I guess that’s America in 2018.

Learn “Thank you” in as many languages as possible and watch the transformation when after being of service to someone who has taken for granted that you do not know their language, you say “Bayetla” (Mongolian") or “Amasagnaglu” (Amharic) or “Cupchai” (Laotian) or “Thank you” (English snobs).
