is it a good thing Calvin decided not to go for a swim in lake for there might be leeches therein?

I’m lucky enough not to be allergic to poison oak, and I presume poison ivy as well. If I forget to wash when I get home I get some redness, but that’s it.

With Calvin soon to be pink from the Calamine Lotion will Hobbes mistake him for some fresh Tuna?

That’s what happens when you get back to nature. Nature gets you.

Maybe these camping trips are Dad’s way of getting back at Calvin for all the grief he causes ?

I love how Calvin hates these outdoor adventures, and can’t wait to go home – so he & Hobbes can once again……go play in the woods?

If this doesn’t build Calvin up into an all-time great “character”, nothing will! Poor kid…

I’d lay odds that when he grows up, Calvin will be a strictly urban holidayer.

When seeing new comics every day, it has me wondering whether new comics are drawn per week in Sunday newpaper, or in this cas, eveyday, or if these strips are simply taken from strips already in his repetoire (And this goes for all other comic strips that do this.

I find a strange inconsistency in Calvin’s attitude. He plays in the woods near his house all the time, and revels in it, but now he loathes the outdoors.

My worst experience with an insect (although flies and mosquitoes sting a little when they sting me the bites are not that itchy to me) was being chased by a horsefly for several hundred meters while mountain biking. I didn’t want to take a hand off the handlebars to swat at it (I don’t like trail rash. It offends my delicate esthetic sensibilities and it hurts more than a little.) so the persistent SOB finally got me. Horsefly bites hurt a lot but seeing the wild horses helped ease the pain.

Someone forgot the “Leaves of three, let it be” lesson – probably playing with the transmogrifier and not paying attention

Our youngest scratched till bumps bled and scarred over. Then a very scary episode of Scalded Skin hit. Afterwards, not a scar remained. Not a recommended therapy.

Later in life, I took to rubbing itches. A fine compromise between scratching and doing nothing.

The best treatment for poison ivy is to just avoid it. I had two bad episodes with it when I was a kid. I learned very well what it looks like and haven’t had a reaction in 50 years.
