Wrong class Calvin. That would be a good summary of some of the arguments espoused prior to the American Revolution in support of gaining freedom from England. Unfortunately your class is reading Charlotte’s web and your summary is not really applicable.

I hope he will someday meet a teacher who will help him channel that creativity in the arts or writing. He would make a great sci-fi writer or actor.

My grade school years were perpetual passive resistance.

Calvin may be one of those, not so rare, individuals who can make a life out of not making a living.

Maybe the level of paranoia in Western society has always been this high, or maybe social media has fed it rather than just displayed it. I am (for some reason) still amazed at the prevalence of paranoid and suspicious thinking I see in YouTube comments. Maybe I just notice it more because there as so many wacky ideas floating around now: the Dread Virus Roberts as a bioweapon (that is uncontrollable, affects military age men relatively little…) and that somehow Bill Gates is involved in myriad weird and evil ways; “directed energy weapons”, “chemtrails”, 5G mind controls, biotracking through luciferin in vaccines that we will somehow be forced to take, nuclear powered drills that melt holes in solid rock (and apparently make the melted rock disappear somehow) hundreds of feet under our cities, Lizard People, Flat Earth….

The only believable conspiracy is found in GoComics comments. Anybody reading them for the first time knows we must be up to something really weird.

That’s the long way to say he wasn’t paying attention.

He is about to be spirited away.

How metaphysical can you get?

It’s clear that Calvin has NO idea how spirituality works.

If he put half as much spirit into paying attention, he’d still have half, which is enough to rebel effectively.

Reminds me of stories about an elderly relative who when punished for his childhood misdeeds would shout “I’m gonna go and do it again!”. In retirement he amused himself by using postage paid return envelopes to mail lawn clippings to advertisers.

well in my day as the old folks say, i would have been sent to the principal,paddled , then suspended. then more of it when i got home. kids have it too easy now. thats why there are so many bad kids that grow up to be bad adults.
