    We don’t need no education

We don’t need no thought control

No dark sarcasm in the classroom

    Teacher, leave them kids alone

    (Pink Floyd)

    Just another budding trumper

If ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise.

I know some conservatives who would make the Right to Remain Ignorant an Amendment to the Constitution.

And I know a lot of radicas/left-wingers who would make the Right to Remain Ignorant an Amendment to the US Constitution, and to their State Constitution.

Yes,Calvin, ignorance is bliss. You will come to this same conclusion after attending school and college when you start to live real life. There is no point growing up. Stay at six and entertain millions across the globe.

I have had many conversations with my wife and my oldest grandson about the ways education, at least in the US, has gone very far astray. In some cases it has gone the “Jeopardy” direction: memorizing UBIs (Useless Bits of Information).

I wonder how much poverty has resulted from unguided young adults being dumped into the 21st century world. Besides knowing how to balance a budget and a family’s diet, we are expected to know enough about employment to get a job that best uses our talents or interests… but we are never taught that. History, far from being a stirring chronical of Man’s path from the beginning of writing to now, is no more than a list of things to memorize. From English I recall endless reading of “literature” and writing reports without nearly enough introduction to the best structure. In my last years of working I discovered I had a talent for document architecture and for writing procedures that can withstand regulatory scrutiny. I sure didn’t learn that in school!

I’m with Calvin on this; step it up or stop wasting everybody’s time.

It’s nice of Hobbes to wait at the bus stop with Calvin, even when the weather is chilly enough to require a scarf.

you can refuse to learn, but you’ll have to deal with the consequence of that, you will NEVER be right, you won’t be able to win any arguments, and you will never be in charge because everyone else will know better than you. You can’t even just spout whatever you want on social media anymore because Twitter is dying so your last bastion for saying whatever BS you want unchallenged is going away.

Unfortunately, yes. And it’s particularly obvious in the US where intelligence and knowledge are actually distrusted by a sizable proportion of the population.
