I’m surprised that Calvin is actually concerned about sleeping in at all.

In 60’s, Grade school, I was the same way. Up before 8am to watch cartoons. 4 hours of them on 3 networks back, then.

A whole world awaits

Time for cartoons.

We were farmers and I totally enjoyed the days off from school. Wouldn’t want any other childhood. Luckily I didn’t have to help milk in the morning.

Get that telly on………

My brother had to be hauled out of bed by the leg on school days. On Saturdays he was up at 6 watching Pink Panther cartoons. I had no such incentive; Saturdays meant housework.

That makes sense. The holidays are way better to spend than the working days. Love Calvin’s expression in the first panel.

Saturday morning cartoons aren’t for kids. They’re for the parents, so they can sleep in.

Wheeee I wish i could fly out of bed like that!

If it was a school day, Calvin wouldn’t have been able to oversleep as Mom would keep calling and calling and sometimes end up having to haul Calvin out of bed.

I’m retired and HATE when I am not up by 4am. Love the quiet early morning hours.

Enjoy it now, before your “get up and go” becomes your “got up and went”…

LOL, gotta get started to terrorize some one today…haven’t decided who, but I have a plan….

Get up early for freedom

Even though, these days, Saturday is the first day of my work week, I still look forward to starting and finishing my own projects. Putting up a new ceiling fan in my home office today. …sort of ironic, I know.

Up and at ’em boy! So much to do.

I was the same way. Loved those Saturday morning cartoons. Also, I remember the beginning of each TV season in the fall was always a big event with a lot of hype. (Season Premier Week!!) Networks would even have a one hour special introducing the new programs. I specifically remember ‘Batman’, and how kids at school were divided because it was on at the same time Davy Crockett was on.

All of you old fa*ts have to watch Bluey on Disney. It will bring back some of those old feelings.

My kids did the same.

I never heard them when they got up on Sauturdays. They put on TV extra quiet, and they even made their own breakfast…

In 4th grade I’d set my clock radio for 5AM so I could read before school. Got to hear the farm report too. The grain prices were fascinating.

Let sleeping stuffed tigers lie.

Sometimes I feel that way if I sleep in on Saturday morning and miss a good part of MeTV’s Saturday morning cartoons…

Back in the days when cartoons was on Saturdays.

LOL… Calvin goes MANIC !

Those cartoons are not going to watch themselves nor will those frosted sugar bombs get eaten without help.
