A rare strip with neither Calvin or Hobbes

Now how are they going to put an estimate of the value for Hobbes to the insurance agent?

If Calvin was home alone with Hobbes, what do you think would have happened? My opinion is either the burglers would have killed him or anonymously called CPS to report a case of child neglect.

So true. I have had so many times I have been illegally discriminated against, attacked physically, assaulted mentally. Plus my home was broken into before the alarm system and after it.

Lucky the camera caught the $&^#@$^ who did it the second time. But again, I am the example for 90% of you

With burglary, the worst isn’t the valuables that are stolen (although that hurts as well), but the fact that strangers have been in your home, going through your things, invading the sanctity of your home.

On Saturday, when the burglary was discovered, someone made a reference to Tigger. I replied that a real burglary had happened at the London home of A. A. MIlne and his famous son Christopher Robin Milne. I have now looked in my copy of Goodbye, Christopher Robin by Ann Thwaite and can quote from a letter written by Milne after the burglary:-

“Fortunately, they were only out for the jewellery, and ignored all the silver spoons and forks. Still more luckily, they searched every drawer in the house for Daff’s jewel-case, and the actual case (which they probably thought was a tea-caddy) looked on and laughed at them.”

“Daff” was Milne’s wife, Daphne. He credited her with establishing the different personalities for Christopher Robin’s toys which he used himself in his two collections of stories.

Besides having a copy of Goodbye, Christopher Robin, I also have three autobiographical books by Christopher Milne. They are “The Enchanted Places”, “The Path Through The Trees” and “The Hollow In The Hills”.

And we can all blame Mom for needlessly dragging everyone to a random wedding for people they don’t even know!

I work from home. the guy in the house next door lives alone. one day there was a ‘workman’ going in and out of his house. in the middle of the day. No i didn’t call the police, it could have been, and was, harmless, but I did make a note of the truck, plate number and the worker, just in case.

It’s unusual to have Calvin and Hobbes, without Calvin or Hobbes, in it.

Mom looks all of 15 in that center panel – Bill trying to have her look younger and more vulnerable?

Didn’t this happen the last time they forgot Hobbs?

Seems like some rerun seasons are longer than others.

I think Hobbes showed the burglar the first scenes of “Life of Pi.”

Ah… the great Calvin cataclysmic crime caper. In fact, might his reasoning be commiserating about a closet criminal whose calculated crime will not be computed this time? It wouldn’t surprise me if it was the fabled Claude Cooper from Cleveland. However, I sure wouldn’t want to make a calculated connotation regarding his conviction… as my conclusion.

At the risk of being sombre, on a comics page…. many people rant about how “wonderful” the Canadian legal system is, until they themselves become victims and then realize how badly broken it is. All the rights are given to the bad guy, the victim is left holding the bag.

If Calvin lived in Canada and they caught the burglar, there would be no restitution or compensation (“that’s what your insurance is for”). The burglar would be freed that very afternoon after arrest. He’d get a free defense weasel to represent him in court, and if found guilty, wouldn’t spend a minute in jail because home robberies are “non-violent crimes”.

Sigh… I’m off to another strip, maybe some Pearls will uplift me now!

Our house was burglarized about 15 years ago, and it was just as much a shock as what Bill Watterson says in the last panel. Luckily the only broken thing was the front door because it was jammed open. The burglar opened every first drawer in the whole house, and took what he thought was “gold” jewelry. Joke’s on him!

What the neighbors said is that now we don’t have to worry about another break-in ever again, because the word gets around that there’s nothing worth stealing here…

Now, we have cameras all around, but that’s like closing the barn after the horses are out…

Where’s Hobbes !? Calvin is going to need medication…

I love how this story arc also shows how shaken the Mom and Dad are about the break-in. It really hits home. And what they say in the last panel is all too true.

no matter what “muk” calvins parents might feed him, they still are shook, and concerned for their kid. The quote is all to real…

I think Hobbes left the house and forgot his keys.
