Cathy: ...Hi, Mom, me again. If I bought it on the ninth but the package says the eighth, will I poison myself if I cook it on the tenth? ...Hi mom, me again. If the recipe says "one chicken cut into pieces" how many pieces do they mean, and is it with or without the bones and with or without the skin? ...Hi mom, me again. What do they mean by "brown until opaque"? If it got brown, how could it be opaque? Also, how many years does vegetable oil stay fresh after it's opened? ...Hi mom, me again. What is a dutch oven and where am I supposed to buy one at 6:30 on Sunday night? ...Hi mom, me again. How large is a "sprig"? How big is "chopped"? How many mushrooms are in an ounce? ...Hi mom, me again. If I had any fennel, would it be in the freezer, closet, or garage...and if I don't, can I just throw in one teaspoon of something else I've never heard of? ...Hi mom, me again. Does "add a can of tomatoes" mean just the tomatoes or the tomatoes and the juice?? How do I cook potatoes at 400 degrees if the main course is cooking at 325 degrees?! How amd I supposed to "salt and pepper to taste" if it isn't cooked yet and even if it were, I don't know what it's supposed to taste like??!! Mom: Nothing fills a mother like a fifteen-phone-call chicken dinner.
This brings back memories of making these calls to my mom when I first moved out.
