Mom: Aack! you haven't called to thank the Pingreys yet, Cathy?? Cathy: It's ok, Mom. I moved the message right next to the phone. Mom: Proximity to the phone doesn't count! You haven't called! Cathy: Of course it counts! Every time a "to do" item is moved, some of the guilt shakes off! Mom: What are you talking about?? Cathy: Guilt! Guilt accumulates like dust particles! The longer an item just sits there untouched and undone, the more guilt piles on. As soon as you move the item, the guilt starts falling off! See?? Move the overdue birthday card list from the bottom of the briefcase to the top of the purse...some of the guilt is gone! Move the workout machine from behind the couch to next to the couch..guilt flies off everywhere! And when you're really cooking, you can simply flash a few good intentions through your brain and knock off most of the guilt particles without even leaving your chair!! My daughter: Inventor of and annual recipient of the "mental housekeeping seal of approval."
