Cathy Classics by Cathy Guisewite for December 30, 1996
Transcript:
Cathy: I gained nine pounds at your house this year, mom! Mom: Nonsense. Holiday air is heavier because it's filled with pine tree and candle scents, which make the scale read higher. Furthermore, your father and I keep the house warmer than you do, and heat causes things to temporarily expand. Also, the emotions of the holidays get the fat cells all stirred up and dancing around, so they appear to take up more space. As soon as you go back to your regular life, they'll all settle back to normal! Cathy: Oh. Mom: The '90s mother: part nurturer, part scientist.
