Mom: Whew! Five hours of Christmas shopping! I'm exhausted! Cathy: Me too. Mom: And starving! Cathy: Me too! Mom: I'll just have a tiny salad. No dressing. Cathy: Remember the metabolism thing. Mom: Oh, right...The less you eat, the slower your body burns the calories. I'd better have a roll with that. Cathy: Once your metabolism rate drops too low, you could eat only celery and still gain weight. I'll have a sandwich. Mom: When your body is used to a lot of food, it processes it faster. I'll have a sandwich, too. Cathy: What we eat today could be establishing our metabolic rate for the entire holiday season. Mom& Cathy: A sandwich, order of fries and pie a la mode!! Server: One mother-daughter special on table No. 6! Mom: How do you suppose she could tell we're related?
