Here’s a thought: leave the camera phone at home and buy the gift! Then if Lori does return it, you won’t be any wiser.

I can sympathize with Lori. I had a friend who never had time to get together all year long, or would call me, but sent me & my family Christmas gifts. I always felt obligated to find stuff to give to her & her family, but since we never saw or talked to each other, I had no idea what to get them. What was really bad, is that she would send Christmas stuff in January, after I thought we had stopped exchanging gifts. The friendship is now over, because, to me, a friendship means communicating with each other, not just shipping gifts.
