Mom: This is perfect for Flo! Saleswoman: Perfect! Cathy: A perfect gift! Mom: Now we just have to compare the price at the other department store... Cathy: Compare the price at the discount store... Mom: Compare the price at the outlet store... compare catalog sales... Cathy: Compare the price online... Check the newspaper for coupons... Mom: Now that we've found the perfect gift, the actual shopping can begin. Cathy: Will you put that on hold?
Usually I’ve already done my online research by the time I get to a store, but if I just happen to see something for someone that I consider perfect and it’s not too outrageously priced, then I’ll go ahead and buy it. If, when I get home, I should happen to see the same thing online at a much lower price [say by at least $10.00], then I’d most likely go ahead and order it, then return the originally bought item to the store next time I’m going to be there. But if the same item is only pennies or maybe a dollar or two cheaper, then I’ll just keep what I bought at the store because that little bit of savings wouldn’t be worth the hassle of returning it.
Hi, rgcviper!
lindz.coop: Thanks for the advice. Maybe I will “let” my mom treat us out to dinner for our anniversary. She’s 77 and I don’t know how much longer I’ll have her so if this would make her happy [even though I think she should be saving her money for herself], then I won’t refuse to let her do it — we’ll just have to make sure it’s not a very expensive restaurant when we do. B/T/W: if I know about it and it’s important to me, it goes on my calendar so that I don’t ever forget about it . . . and this goes for my “soul sister’s” upcoming special day too!!!!!
Hello and Happy Wednesday, fellow “Cathy” fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today.
