Mrs. Hillman: ...OOPS! Someone was naughty! Here's a treat! ...OOPS! Someone ELSE was naughty! Here's a treat! Irving: WHAT ARE YOU DOING, MOTHER?!! That is NOT how we... Mrs. Hillman: ...OOPS! Someone's grumpy! Here's a treat!
How prescient: when Christian Cooper went birding in Central Park, he carried dog treats for unleashed naughty dogs. I guess that the idea is that the treats would cause the dogs to come to him and leave their owners\\\\\\\\guardians, who would then have to leash them to keep from losing them—or something like that.
I need a “spoiler” alert … how long is this arc going to continue? (I stopped subscribing to the newspaper in 2001. It is all new and can’t stand it!) OY!
I’m having a bit of a grumpy day, and I wish someone would feed me treats! I don’t want dog treats though and there’s no one offering me anything, so I got my own treat of dark chocolate. Yum!
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Thursday! Our school district announced this morning that they will be opening as usual in early August. As someone that is in a state with increasing cases and deaths (GA), I’m really not happy about this. Lots to think about and do in the coming weeks. Have a great and healthy day, all!
Unleashed dogs run at people all the time- wtf are you talking about? Throwing treats to get a dog to back off beats kicking them in the head or spraying them with some dog repellent. Jeebus
O.M.G.! What on earth would possess someone to treat-reward someone else’s dogs — and for their “naughty” behavior, no less?!? Doing something like that will only serve to reinforce their naughtiness and pretty much guarantee that whatever it is they did wrong today (which, according to the color comic on Arcamax, appears to be the tearing up of a maga-zine and getting into the trash can) WILL happen again in the future. After all, if it was “okay” this time, then it’ll be “okay” the next time even though this kind of behavior was never allowed in the past. But then, what does SHE care? Vivien and Electra aren’t her dogs so she won’t be the one having to deal with the fallout this situation could possibly cause; that’ll be Cathy and Irving’s problem. This woman is a positive MENACE and I can’t wait for the day when Irving finally tells his parents that he’s had enough and it’s time for them to GO HOME!
.
Hi, rgcviper! :-)
lightenup: Hope your day eventually got better, Sis. Dark chocolate (or ANY kind of chocolate as far as I’m concerned) is ALWAYS a good idea! ;-) Love and hugs! ❤

Hello and Happy Thursday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope you all had a really nice day today. Stay safe and well, everyone! :-)
Sigh. Such a sabotaging Mother or MIL. She’s getting the dogs to expect treats when naughty, but when one of her things is touch she will scream ‘naughty dog’ and bawl out Cathy and Irvin about their poorly trained mutts. This is playing out like one of the dramas made in China, Hong Kong or Korea. They have titles like “Thought her daughter-in-law wasn’t a virgin. Evil Mother-in-Law broke up her son’s marriage” or “The imperious mother-in-law incites her son to kick his wife out of the house.” In any of these scenarios the evil person will get his petard hoisted 5-10 years later as his company is going bankrupt and he discovers it is his ex-wife he kicked out to the streets is now the CEO of the company he hopes will bail his company out. Ahh, so many way to have the worm turn.
Yeah—the M.I.L. rewarding the dogs for bad behavior isn’t great, in my mind. However, at first I thought she was feeding Irving dog treats in the last panel (and he was enjoying them!) before I looked more closely and read “Cheese balls”. Thank goodness … ha.

Rewarding bad behavior is only a good idea if your intent is to give away rewards. I rarely have too many rewards laying around.
