Some people just enjoy pushing buttons. They don’t understand that they go too far sometimes. Also, I feel like some parents back in the day (like mine) didn’t really think about how their treatment of their children was affecting the kids. They just said and did things, and that was just the way it was.

My relationship with my Mom improves geometrically with distance. I cannot stay in the same house with her for more than three days but we are good buddies 1500 miles apart.

Mom is what I call a “contrarian”. Even when you agree with her, you are agreeing for the wrong reason . :) :(

I didn’t have that kind of relationship with my Mother…there were many other problems but we didn’t play games. My Mom was always completely honest and not manipulative with me.

Sounds like Cathy’s mom enjoys pushing those buttons, too. Feel the love.
