I do not feel sorry for the furure b—-
Well, maybe a little, very little,
I hate to sound like a pop psychologist, but the low self-esteem in the second panel probably explains why so many women won’t leave an abusive partner.
It’s a comic, I know, but maybe a bit too true-to-life today.
I wonder if we’ll see this arc going along that line. Shudder…
I happened to just read this while my kids were in the room. Looking over my shoulder, my 6 year old just said “Why is that fishy sad?” (referring to Panel 2). I told him that wasn’t a fishy, that was a girl.
Poor young Mona, just can’t catch a break.

M. Smokey is right, though Mona can never admit it. Raoul is such a mistake for one so young as little Mona!

Don’t worry, Mona. After a while, you’ll learn to accept rejection as your constant companion.

@DT: “Candorville” says you are horribly misguided and probably one of those “Nice Guys” I keep hearing about.
@RayC: We haven’t got to the part where Mom’s genes kick in. It’ll get better, then worse, then she goes to college.
