    While every other character has evolved, Mona has regressed back to 2006. And now, the end of her story is near as the Mona X Lucas option has been exercised. Everything’s turning out like I said it would. You can now take Mona and Smokey out of the strip and nothing of value would have been lost.

    The whole point of Mona and Smokey was to try to resolve the creator’s anger at the world for not realizing how much of a special little snowflake she is. Without the anger, Mona has nothing as a character.
