In Oregon, years ago, a 727 landed at what the pilot thought was Portland International, but turned out to be Troutdale. It was several miles short and a much shorter runway.
The passengers got busses and the plane’s interior was stripped out for a Boeing test pilot to make the short takeoff, with minimal fuel, and hop it over to Portland.
The plane survived, I’m not sure about the pilot’s career.
