The only time I ever broke par on a hole (to say nothing of a course) involved a real wormburner, out of a bunker, about an inch over the turf (if not less), that was stopped by the flagstick. Fortunately, it hit the flagstick dead center on both the stick and the ball; and the ball dropped right into the hole. If that shot hadn’t hit the stick, I’d probably still be playing that hole — 25 years later.
