And with the coach yelling at you all the time - and having to wear all that heavy gear... Jett: I've been thinking about quitting and going back to play soccer with you guys. Jack: But the stuff the coach is yelling is really inspirational. And that gear is really cool-looking! Mondo: Wow, Jack, a backtrack like that would make a pretty good soccer move.
So Jack would rather be the best player of a 2-7-1 club (think the NY Jets) rather than be a good player but not the best on a championship team.
