A well thought out plan, but those things are gonna be hard as a rock !
I tried that. Somehow they disappeared little by little. By the time summer rolled around they were about the size of an ice cube. Disappointing. I suppose a frost free, means snow free as well.

Why not just go ahead and put rocks in them. If they survive, that’s what they’re gonna be.

Snow balls will shrink in the freezer, due to evaporation, unless you wrap each on in plastic. Experience talking here.
