I think the word “Great” needs to have an exponent of about 520 added to it (if you measure a generation at 25 years). One “Great” is not enough.

Remarkable high-def photograph! The cameras were pretty good back then, a little big and clunky, but they took good pics!

I’ll bet that ancestry site cost him plenty and I’ll bet for some more money he can go back all the way to his monkey ancestors.

I traced my father’s side back to Hemfrid de Gatton, an Anglo-Norman born in 1094!

Urrgghhhh … so many people just starting out find family trees they think must be correct. Then they spread the errors.

You talk to your oldest living relatives first. I had long lovely letter exchanges with several great aunts. And then started the weekly trips to DC to search Census Records at the National Archives. I also got copies of some service records. They let me hold the service record of my great-great-grandfather George Durrell.. in a protective thing of course.

Then the fun part, writing to the places that kept birth, marriage and death records to get copies. Yep, I started this in the late 70’s, long before the internet was available. I much prefer research these days :)

I hate to admit it but my dog’s blood line is more impressive than my family tree
