Local news. I think my father-in-law might take umbrage at Morin’s scepticism.

And how much would you pay for a still life of a bunch of flowers, by a depressed guy who cut his ear off?

Is there really still a market for that stupidness?

is this comic about current events, or did Morin’s wife drag him to an auction full of those ridiculous art snobs?

I’m doing just like pop artists.

Fine arts jumped the shark (a guy in New-York s#its on a canvas and it sells!) so I turn to popular culture.

Yes but you tried to paint something real so it doesn’t count LOL!

Fooey! I missed the sale. It was only $1,299,999 on Black Friday.

^ Just like rap used to be fine music, now it’s just cliché junk.

My father-in-law is an abstract artist (and no hunk). At first I was sceptical, too. But now that I’ve been more exposed to his art and of other artists, I can now appreciate it more. It’s an acquired taste I suppose.

(I draw the line at Damien Hirst, he’s an utter jerk)

Hmm, I wonder if Morin fancies himself as the next Jackson Pollock (don’t think he was considered a hunk either).

SrBW: Duly noted and edited (it’s a bad word here too but is more commonly used as a stronger version for fool or twit )

@omQ R You’re from Miami Beach? Oi!!! Say hi to my two friends that live there!

As far as art is concerned most of it is garbage. I’ve been to several exhibits at the art district and let me tell you most of it is caca! I don’t understand how a broken guitar is supposed to represent a time in someone’s life. Or how a picture of a guy with paint splatted all over his face is supposed to recreate identity change. I’ve broken many things when i was a child. Maybe if I submit something I could be famous?

Art now a days is for pseudo intellectuals. The same people who justify the ending for The Sopranos.

DrC: The word “twit” with an “a” instead of an “i”? Really? Not the use of the infamous “n” word or the “c” word? Depending on the context in Britain, tw*t can mean either what SrBw describes or what I just explained above and I certainly meant the latter.

d_legendary1: Me, from Miami? Oh no, Jim Morin is. My wife recognised the “Art Basel” reference, I didn’t. From that I found out that there is also a Miami Beach Art Basel (‘cos it makes sense, Basel, Switzerland twinned with Miami Beach :-| )

I’ve never watched The Sopranos so don’t get your reference. :p I’ve been to a few exhibitions and I’ll agree with you there but those pseudo intellectuals soon get short shrift by the “real” folks. Unless they’re loaded.

SrBw: I have, thanks! Tch, tch, ‘tis tricky the slight differences in the English language on either side of the pond. ;-) Loved the Scottish “distinguished surname”! This time of year I’m sure there’s a stocking filler that always comes out, about place names and surnames… Aha, here it is.

DrC: I’m surprised Sati didn’t appreciate ET. I know I started on the wrong foot with her too but I soon realised the errors of my ways. And grammar.

@omQ R I never knew Morin was from Miami. He probably publishes his art in the Hearld, which is NOT a newspaper by the way. I wouldn’t line my bird cage with that rag.

Also you’re not missing much in regards to the Sopranos. Just imagine NOT knowing the ending to Romeo and Juliet and you’ll understand the sopranos.

d_legendary1: Hmmm, actually I don’t know if he is in Miami, I might be making too many assumptions about Morin’s residence when I read “Miami Herald” in the blurb above right. Re Sopranos…Erm, let me try run that through my head…

(how did I not see your comment earlier?) DrC: I use ’bugger’ all the time. Also quite common in South Africa (even funnier with a local accent…”ag, buggrit, man!”) But yeah, it also means to sodomise around here (that’ll get Charlie in here like a shot).
