That “false” meaning IS the true meaning! A celebration of prosperity and generosity with those one values. Shared joyfulness. Lights and warmth at the darkest time of year.
It’s that darkness that explains why so many northern hemisphere cultures have a solstice celebration, including the Roman Saturnalia that the Christians took over and made into Christmas (like they also made the spring equinox into Easter).
Even we atheists can enjoy this time of year while ignoring the false “true” meaning claimed by those who think everyone’s a sinner in need of redemption. (Virgin birth. Walking on water. Bodily resurrection. Yeah. Right.)

ps, I would rather believe in miracles, redemption, and the power of love than people who hurt others only being as dead as I will be.
