The paintings of Margaret Keane (sold originally under the name of her husband, Walter Keane). Big-eyed waifs and puppies and kitties and so on. Very popular in the 1960’s and 1970’s, they’ve actually gone from being considered “kitzsch” to being (sometimes) recognized as a noteworthy, almost surreal ‘movement.’

She’s still putting them out.

Just took a look at the Keane site, and her paintings have improved over the years. The ones from the 60s were awful.

Those are some very sad puppy eyes. i got the same look today.
