Johanan - It usually takes several days of below freezing weather to freeze a pond over, at least thick enough to support human body weight. Here in KS, it can be quite nice weather on day, then a cold front moves in and drop several inches of snow the next day.
Rmom, obviously it’s been too long since I lived in the Midwest.
But then, B.C.’s country just had a very sudden freeze (enough to trap a fish out of water in mid-jump), so why shouldn’t B.C. expect frozen water? :))

Good one…you should always test to make sure it is actually frozen, or you could end up in cold water.

More like what on water?

With all that snow on the ground, wouldn’t you normally expect the water to be frozen?
Natural warm springs, maybe?

Very tricky! LOLs! He is such a fool to believe that the pond was already frozen but it was not! LOLs!

EMET Ever try water polo? Water temp might be a little cool for that though.

appearances can be deceiving (personally, I first thought he was going to hunt the bird than go ice skating)
