Try out for the NHL. Size doesn’t matter. And it’s a much better game than basketball.

EMET This time I saw the ball - but I wish it were a puck.

He’s got the entitlement, self centered attitude down already. That’s a great start! They grow so fast… . .

size matters in the NHL, too (unfortunately); but the changes made since the lockout have encouraged teams to use smaller, more skillful players as well as the big bruisers. still, GMs seem to prefer size with a bit of skill to skill alone. A?

Perhaps that may be true today, yyyguy. But back in the day that I loved hockey that may have been important for the enforcers, like John Fergusson and Eddy Shack. But the Habs had a rather small line with Cornoyer, Lemaire and the pocket rocket that had some speed to make up for the size differential.

@ BC13 & Hugh i saw the game last night, and was glad the Leafs won. did you see the part where they contrasted the size difference between Zdeno Chara and Red Kelly? it’s the same point i was trying to make above. the game evolved to one of size above all (even Fergie was only about as tall as i am - and players my height are below average now). i’m all for promoting the skills of puck handling and shooting accuracy over raw strength (and the hit Matt Stajan took was a good example of “strength” in the game). hockey needs the physicality, but not at the expense of the artistry - which is what we all aspired to growing up. the pendulum still has to swing a lot farther away from the “goon hockey” of the mid to late seventies before it’s where it should be. yyyguy is a Leafs fan. The Habs are my team, but living in the Houston area, I don’t even get to see a Stars game - and I lost Versus, which may have televised a Habs game or two.

EMET No one is more shocked than I am about the upset of the Saints. The Steelers were lucky to beat the Pack after a bonehead decision to go for an on side kick with the lead late in the game. I’m watching the Vikings now. They should win.

Hope the Giants will lose to the Skins tomorrow.
