Hey, Thing. I remember that. Only in my part of Los Angeles County, we used sheets of cardboard. As kids in elementary school, we called the place “cardboard hill”. Woe be unto the boy that veered off the beaten slope and into a prickly pear cactus. That was in the ’60s. Now I don’t think there’s a unpaved portion of the San Gabriel Valley where this can be done any longer.
leaf bags under cardboardman!!!! topanga canyan so cal! you just had to look out for the eucalyptus! that stuff could end your fun REAL fast. of course NOW i live on a 35 degree angle hill in ohio and we GET the snow (usually in january) but i’m crippled and crutches and snow are NOT a good combination!
you guys and Lio will have to sled FOR me.
takes me back! we used to sled on cardboard all summer until a new neighbor moved in… his goals in life were to grow the perfect lawn on the old hill and spoil our fun~~
both of which he did exceedingly well.
When I was little, we lived on a 5 acre homestead with some steep slopes that were covered in grass during the summer. I remember the grass grew so high that I made forts out of it on the flatter areas of our yard and my sisters and I used to slide down the slopes of that wonderful grass in cardboard boxes.
Then in the winter we would sled on those same slopes.

Ingenious! I wonder if the sled helps at the skateboard park when that freak snowstorm hits?

Wow! Lio’s the first kid in the neighborhood to have a flatbed wagon!

At least he has it strapped on there really well. Probably a LOT safer than just a single skateboard anyway. Have a blast, Lio!
