Don’t breed, rescue. There are plenty of pets in cages that would like a family (even a family of one) for Christmas. Then there is always someone to greet you at the door, unless it’s a cat. I got back at the cat by putting a bottle of Kitty Shampoo in his stocking.
My cats greet me at the door, simply because when I get home from work, they know it’s din-din time…
All my cats are rescues, it’s the best way to have a pet… And I’m not allowed in pet stores that have rescues or going to a shelter, I just want to bring them all home… I love dogs and cats…
My cat comes around because he’s hungry but my dog comes around because she loves me … but I love them both. I found my cat where someone had dumped him out on the side of a mountain. I wasn’t able to save his two siblings, though. My dog spent six months in a shelter and had some behavioral problems when I brought her home but she’s a normal, healthy, happy dog now. If you want unconditional love get yourself a (shelter) dog.
My shelter cats all have mental problems of some sort (more than normal?). It’s too bad that people can’t spend the $50 to get their pets fixed. We have gangs of roaming cats in the neighborhood thanks to one careless/heartless P.O.S. But that’s OK because they moved. Thanks a lot!
Either way, check out your local SPCA and make a new friend for the holidays.
Good idea, kirbey. The shelter folks had gotten so attached to Nicky during her SIX MONTH LONG stay they almost hated to see her go home with me and Klaatu even though they knew she was going to a loving home. Imagine how you would feel if you spent a fourth of your life in jail and then got out. That must have been how Nick felt. So, go volunteer at a shelter or someplace else to help people or animals in need. Since I retired I volunteer at two different places and, as odd as it may sound, working for free as a volunteer beats the heck out of working for a paycheck.
My 2 cats were feral before my niece caught them. There is a huge feral cat population where I live… but no shelter (the town is that small).
My sister and niece who live across the street from me have been catching the feral cats, getting them neutered and then finding homes for the ones that they are able to socialize. I help them as much as I can, but can’t house more than my own 2 cats.
IT IS SO SAD BUT TRUE. My pets are all rescues. Two of the three are over 15 yrs old, the third died recently @ the age of 18. But I will get more from the shelter in the future!!!

“… a dog is a pet; a cat is an OWNER!” Either way, they are happy with “just” kindness. I WISH YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS!
