It does depend on a lot of factors. Men who work in factories, transportation (train yards, airports…) used to have a lot more hearing loss because there was less ear protection, and their worksites were very loud. It’s probably getting a little better. My dad wears hearing aids – and the doctor told him that he can’t hear the higher tones. In fact, doc told him the pitch of my mother’s voice was particularly hard for him to hear. Made my mom so mad that she could blame him for selective hearing anymore.

Women have the same affliction. At least my ex did. She also had “motor-mouth syndrome”
