I take it wherever this is hasn’t switched over to the easier-on-the-ear electronic “dings” yet. I haven’t heard an actual bell since summer school between my sophomore and junior year (which they got rid of before the end of the first week), and the last time before THAT was elementary school.
School is still so 19th century. A metal clapper bell. No fancy ring tones!. They probably still use paper books and make you write on paper with pencils as well.
It isn’t relevant to today’s strip, but when I was a kid in Sunday school, we used to sing a song called “Heavenly Sunshine”. I think of that tune whenever I see “Heavenly Nostrils”.

They have electronic ringers that are just as bad.

It doesn’t matter what kind of ringer or bell it is, the first ring of the school year is a jolt to the system.

Time flies when you’re waiting for the first bell of the school year.Time crawls when you’re waiiting for the last bell of the school year.

That was me with fire drills. Our school didn’t have bells to signal the start and end of classes.

In my job, we have a supervisor blowing a whistle to tell us when it’s break time and the end of the day

I’ve been right below one of those things when it went off. I went and cried in the corner…
