Why is this version of M&J different than Benitin y Eneas en Espanol? Although I have a good speaking knowledge of Spanish, I would feel more comfortable reading the joke in English.
This strip probably first ran in the 50’s, so that’s not $50 per gallon house paint on Jeff’s head. It’s whitewash (note the bucket container as opposed to a paint store pail). Home-made whitewash was probably worth 25 cents a gallon when Bud Fisher drew the strip.
