I posted late yesterday, linking to this article about the current content: Cartoonist Takes Up the Cause http://www.armyhistory.org/ahf.aspx?pgID=899&newsID=102&exCompID=81 Skeezix was awarded a purple heart. Shrapnel in the leg, I think.

As for Joe, I’ve never seen any harm in his posts. They’re not mean-spirited (though insults will rile him), so I’ll live and let live.

Hang in there, Joe. I’m going to figure you’ve earned the right to say what you want.

Joe-Allen, some folks are just plain low lifes, and instead of picking themselves up they choose to drag others down.

I’ve said it once…I’ll say it again: Thanks for your service - and the service of many others - to our great country.

Oh boy, we are waxing political here. Well we might as well go for broke. Don’t forget that while congress was giving that freeze on COLA increases for SS recipients they were also voting themselves another huge raise!

They do need to have that museum but not now. Wait til the economy improves.

Hmmm, building a museum would employ construction workers, architects, engineers, financiers, and would honor PEOPLE who gave of themselves, not war. Yeah, I guess that would be a stupid thing to build.

$200 mil? Tell me CHUBSYUBSY, how many bridges are you going to fix paying union scale? How many are you going to temporarily feed? I thought the Constitution separated the powers of State and Federal. And SUSAN, what does COLA mean. Could it possibly be linked to the CPI?

I have had a bullet in me since Vietnam.I am proud to see the Marines raise the flag atop Mt Suribachi on Iwo Jima. Guess the government should have spent that money on some “Great Society” project..

Honor the Vet or bread and circuses. See you in the voting booth.

Let’s see, $200 million. That’s less than $1.00 from everyone in the USA that’s never been in the service. Heck, I’ll send $5.00. Make up for 4 idiots who can’t see a bargain when it slaps them in the face.

For those unfamiliar with the acronym, COLA = Cost Of Living Adjustment. Those of us living on Social Security or disability didn’t get any raise this year. Every time I think it sucks I remember the neighbor who lost his job, then his house.

$200 Million sounds like a pretty good investment. First of all, very little of that money will be going overseas. A lot will be going to the people doing the actual planning and construction. (Lewreader, how many CEOs can you hire for $200 million? And how many union ironworkers, plumbers, masons, electricians, millwrights, etc? Better it goes to the people doing the work than some pencil pushing elitist snob.) The rest will be going for materials, most from inside the USA (PLEASE, no Italian marble. Good old American granite and limestone, and steel, please).

Of course, those workers are going to take their paychecks and spend it on all sorts of luxuries, like groceries, gasoline, and maybe even to a mechanic to repair their car.

Once it is built, millions of former soldiers, families of former soldiers, people with nothing better to do will be spending their $10.00 a head for admission. A lot of which will be going to pay for the workers at the museum.

Sounds like a hell of a plan to me; much better than giving it to some banker who will spend his bonus on a vacation in Greece.

Hey, I’ve been laid off, but even with that, a national Army museum would be a good thing, and only a moron would think that’s “glorifying war.” It’s honoring the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of soldiers. The Army is why we can complain about tax dollars instead of forking them over to the British Crown, and it’s why we can complain at all instead of wearing swastika armbands, and it’s why we have a united country.

    God bless America.

Why country is so broke too many people out of a job. More important though all the men and women who served and lost there lives for our freedom. The museum would be a way to honor them.

Wll I gotta add my 2¢ here being a vet and from a long line of vets going back to the War of 1812. We who served the US Army should hav e a more than a memorial to the boys on Iwo Jima who BTW were Marines. Ike, Patton and other Generals beat the Nazis pants off. Thats just 2 of our gr8 miltary leadership.. GO ARMY

I’m all for an army museum, but Skeezix as pitchman? All due respect, the only people who know who Skeezix Wallet is are those who read Gasoline Alley.

OK guys, both sides have their points, but this is Gasoline Alley, not State of the Union. Let’s all laugh instead at the oh-so-hilarious antics of Rufus and Joel. Hyuck!

Joe has the right to post whatever he wants, keeping slander laws in mind. Nobody is forced to read it. It’s like Religion…we all have freedom of religion, NOT as it’s used now, as freedom from religion.

Keep on posting, Joe! Don’t let the naysayers get to you. Like the atheists who can’t stand to see religion mentioned, they just refuse to admit that they DON’T have to have or agree with one. If people don’t like it, just skip over it.

May God bless all of our servicemen and servicewomen, including the past ones, present, and future ones, too.
