Is that supposed to be a red door, to ward off evil spirits?

The face that leaps off the page for me today is Nina(?) in panel one. The artist has captured and “expression” of genuine warmth that reaches out to readers giving “life” beyond the flat page of the comic strip. He’s good enough to bring that dimension of “life” to his work often

There’s so much about Jim Scancarelli’s presentations that are pleasing. Often storylines, human interest plots, “sexy” female characters (Ramona Lisa - June 2009) and even the occasional visit of (an “authentic” looking) Dick Tracy.

Here’s a wish for a Happy New Year (2010) for Jim, as it approaches. May he prosper, and be around for many more along with his attractive characters in Gasoline Alley

I’m worried that the absence of the birds portends something far more sinister than Skeezix’s whimsical fantasy suggests.

The bluebird in the final panel resembles Bewley. (*Is* Bewley?) …must be cousins…
