My daughter, at age 3, overheard someone say, “that’s embarassing”. She turned and quickly told them with frustration…”there’s no bears in there!”
I heard of someone who called his newt “My.”

Now I understand. My local paper left off the “throw-away” gag in panels 2-3, so there was no context to Ruthie’s confusion.
