This strip was still running into the 1960’s with no changes in costumes- similar to Blondie.
In the 40s, when I was little, they used to gather groups of the strips together and print them in columns on a page then bind them together into books. This is how comic books began, I used to have quite a few Mutt and Jeff comics; I miss them.
Jeff wants the boss to take the rubber soles off of his shoes so that the workers and can HEAR him coming - and begin acting busy right away.
And just when they were about to give him a nice present – a bell on a necklace.
