Once when I was about Maria’s age UPS was making a delivery. While the driver was out of the truck, I climbed up in the seat. The vehicle didn’t move, but I got scared and hollered when the seat went back. He came running to ‘rescue’ me from my reclining position.
downer alert, not a warm fuzzy story A driver for a local rental company left his keys in the truck while delivering a big screen TV. A 12 yr old hopped in and drove it, with tragic consequences. Unfortunately the 12 year old was the one that survived. My apologies to John and Scott.
It’ll take three of them tio work the car. One to work the gas and brakes, one to steer, and one to seed the horror unfolding before them…I mean see where they are going.
Reminds me of the Simpsons episode when the kids ended up driving the car after Marge jumped out… one of them operated the steering wheel while the other two jumped down to the pedals and were alternating pushing the brake and the gas. Scary when you think about it. :-s
On two occasions, my brother and I were in a car that started rolling backwards. In both instances, our Dad had stepped out for a moment, and came running back like Superman when he saw us moving. Once was in our own driveway, though.
It happens around here. Southern Delaware is still farm country, and we know kids who drive the farm vehicles. WhetherMaria would be trustworthy- that’s another story.

I tried that when I was young put the truck in neutral and rammed it into the fence. I blamed the dog.

My sons logic when he was three was “how hard can driving be? Dad does it…”
