I just watched The egg & I yesterday. It is one of my favorite movies. Ma & Pa Kettle were real people.

I liked Fred in THE PRINCESS COMES ACROSS (1936) also starring Carole Lombard.
I guess a top movie for him was Double Indemnity (1944)
And who can forget the show, My Three Sons. :)
