I think if I was a landlord I’d probably say no pets too. It’s amazing how much dirt a dog can spread around, sand, hair, etc. If you don’t clean almost daily it gets bad. And don’t get me started on the cat box odour if not changed daily.
Lots of renters aren’t so diligent.
