AMEN!! Earls got it figured out… in my Marriage if something goes wrong it is always my fault.

I’m the boss in my house. And I have my wife’s permission to say so!!!

I’ve heard it said that “if a couple never argue it’s because one has no opinion.” I can’t say I agree with that. I’ve been married for 30 years. You can disagree, and debate, without arguing. We live surrounded by people whose normal form of conversation looks like a knockdown drag-out to the impartial observer…we just decided we didn’t want that in our lives. There are things that we disagree on, but we respect each other enough to either compromise or let the other person get on with whatever. We share whatever we can, and don’t force the issue with things the other honestly doesn’t care for.

All In The Family…..Gloria askes her mom why they are happily married. Edith replies, “we never go to bed angry. One of us always says I’m Sorry and Archie always says that’s okay.”

That is another reason why I never married. I just hate the thought of living with someone who is always wrong!

So far, I am surprised that nobody has pointed out the excellent art and coloring in today’s strip. I love the framing in the last panel.

I bought my husband a tee shirt that says, “Always Right… Get Used To It”. >^..^<

This strip is really sad and not a very good commentary on a healthy relationship.

The key word is “respect.” For anyone who’s interested, go to Amazon and look at: “For Women Only: What You Need to Know about the Inner Lives of Men.” The main point of the book is that respect is the most important thing to a man and, ironically, although wives love their husbands, they often don’t treat them with respect.

One of my wife’s complaints is that I always think I’m right. And an even bigger problem she says, is that I usually really am right and don’t make lots of mistakes. Partly comes from being an engineer. Partly from 30+ years of working in a world where risk mitigation is a major portion of the perspective to the job at hand.

But from my side, such a track record makes for too much ego and serious introspection when I do make a mistake.

No, Gweedo — you were right the first time. “Brain” is the correct first name for cartoonist Crane — In my book he’s one of the cleverest, talented, ‘brainest’ cartoon scribblers of our times!

When you get to be Earl’s age, you are not whipped, you are comfortable. You learn through the years, that being cool or living other’s expectations is an act of futility since others have no impact on your life except to try to make you feel insecure so they can feel all powerful.

I’m willing to bet that half of us agree completely.

I thought I was wrong one time … but I was mistaken.
