We should adjust our schedules as the days get shorter. Humans would naturally sleep longer when the hours of daylight are shorter, but that basic human need will never be respected & addressed in our culture.
I think Arlo’s point is, that with the night’s getting longer, it takes him longer to empty his bladder in the morning. See panel 3, which I believe is an exterior view of his bathroom window. Only in A&J.
Ever notice when you have to take a pee at 3 am, daylight savings time doesn’t change it… it doesn’t change to 4 or 2 its always 3 (at least that’s how it works for me)
I couldn’t make out the third frame, but after blowing it up, I see that it’s from outside (grass in foreground) of Arlo looking out the nighttime window. It must be new-moon time for him.

I too work 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Can barely stand daylight but my night vision is awesome!

If you don’t like the long, dark nights of winter, move toward the equator.

I remember working long hours, from dark to dark. Then one day I saw my car in the daylight and was shocked to see how dirty it had become.

Figured out I worked 10 years of each of 3 shifts during my career. Yikes!

The time a man spends in front of the throne is directly proportional to his age!

In a few years Arlo will find himself taking a half-time break around 3:00 am – all year round.
