Sluggo: Here HE comes-- GEE--- I wonder WHAT he'll say?
Nancy: OH, come on, Sluggo-- HE'S JUST NICE.
Smiley face: Have a nice day.
Nancy: You, too--- HAVE A NICE DAY HARRY.
Sluggo: His LIPS don't even MOVE-- it's freaky.
Having a ball with this week’s strips! @Wei Shen, I hadn’t thought of Morocco Mole in years. Funny! @CaptBullock, of course I know that Ernie strip! Great one. @Susan…..no, I don’t think so at all. When I say I’m paying tribute to Ernie and one of his gag writing themes….I mean it’s still me…doing what I always do. Presenting the strip the best way I know how…..simply reaching back into that ol’ bag o’ tricks like Ernie did for so many years….and the way I do, too. Ernie’s strips are out there in book form. Mine are on my drafting board. each day. Starting out as blank paper. Then, all I do is …oh….spend my entire collected thought, emotion, experience and blood, sweat and ink on a few frames each day for almost 20 years….and hope you and the millions that see my strips each day get a little smile. Just like Ernie did.Let’s have a nice day, everybody!
Hello, Guy. Here’s my two cents. Great job on the first two tribute strips, they are really good in my opinion, it felt like I was reading EB’s work. But this Have a nice day Harry doesn’t fit, he has a face that freaks one out and a name more akin to the characters from the Garbage Pail Kids set, Just pointing that out. Hope the next ones are more in the line of that VR kid and Polly.
Actually, contrary to what I thought yesterday, I guess this is Random Stereotyped Character Week. In Guy’s defense (somewhat), Scott Adams is actually doing almost the exact same thing in his strip right now. Check it out.
Reminds me of a cartoon where man was at the checkout counter of a drug store with cold medicine, aspirin, tylenol, Preperation H and about five prescriptions. Clerk rings up the purchase and ends with “Have a nice day!”

I remember a Bushmiller strip that featured a baby who looked like Nikita Khrushchev.

All I have to say about today’s strip, following all the editorials, is “Gray skies are going to clear up, put on a Happy face.”

At least he’s not “Give-’em-Hell-Harry” with his finger on the nuclear button!

Or how about Dirty Have-a-Nice-Day-Harry:“Go ahead, Punk – *make my nice day!!!”
