The owners and players got what they deserved in this situation. There should be no, “no strike” clause in the NFL players contract, and the players should have been able to, although many of them wouldn’t have, honored the Referee’s picket line and not crossed it. If the players and the refs were in the same union or at least honored the other’s the owners wouldn’t have treated the refs so badly. Those replacement refs would have REALLY looked silly if there hadn’t been any players on the field. But they would have made fewer errors.
