Good point, Margueritem, been reading the news online for about a year now, and don’t miss the paper at all.

Newspapers are going to be a thing of the past. Now we have the IPAD.

Good point, Gaylord; except that newspapers appear to be obsolescent, while TVs still have some life in them….

The most I’ve done with a newspaper in the last 15 years is look at the headlines and think what a pile of doggy do, unfortunately the TV news is declining in quality all the time…

‘So senator, thank you for coming on to talk about the state of the economy, let’s get straight down to it! How are relations with your wife going?’

Sensationalist junkies all of them, and the masses lap it up encouraging them to do more… Broomie don’t get the TV and burn all the papers it’s the only safe way!

I just subscribed to a right wing rag to offset the left wing rag I read every day. I can wrinkle the pages and wake the better half up. I can clip the coupons.. I can read the comics not carried by Gocomics. I can swear at the idiots that put editorial content in news stories. I can start the fireplace without buying paraffin logs. I can place my nuc coffee on the editorial section without burning my coffee table. I can wash the cheap newsprint off my hands and avoid swine flu. I can increase my heart rate by reading what the local politicians are doing.

I cannot do any of the above with a TV or computer.

We have good rural paper here (may be a slight lean to the left). Local news, no comics though (the occasional political comic), once a week, every week. There is also a daily here that is rather weak. Papers will endure, not on the news stand, but on the web. There is an Anime tape I have where one of the lead characters prints off a news paper from her computer.

A story I read once where two boys rediscover wrighting.

Newspapers will never die; they may end up “outsourced” overseas where people can afford a newspaper, but not the latest electronic gadget. Also great when the power is out. I prefer to read my news and books in print form. I wonder what types of eye problems the slight flickerings of the electronic texts will bring forth? I use the electronic comics for ones my paper does not carry.

yyyguy I also stopped my subscription long ago. Don’t miss it a bit

Lewreader There are other comic sites you can visit to get strips not carried by gocomics. You don’t need a paper for that. You don’t need a paper to get you hands dirty. You can increase you heart rate by accessing your paper’s top stories on-line. You can use a coaster for your coffee and you can whistle revelry to get the better half out of bed - and save subsription costs to the local rag.

they might still have newspaper in the enchanted forest they could use the paper to help insulate broomies house if the weather gets too cold, that blow in insulation from the 70’s was made from chemically treated recycled paper products

    Lewreader: Reveille.

Our weekly rural isn’t worth taking home, and the nearest daily stopped delivering here a couple of years ago. I miss it because we have a few cockatoos…big ones. Thank God they still bring the Star on Sundays!

We have to have newspapers. That’s what we spread the boiled crawfish, crabs, and shrimp out on down in South Loosyana.

Considering that Gaylord is the brainy one and Broomie the walking antique, shouldn’t their dialogue be switched?

In Luzerne county Pennsylvania, newspaper sales are going UP, because of all the judges being indicted, convicted and going to jail.
