Snow Days were the best when I was a kid.
It was rare though that my parents would allow us to skip
a day although I remember having 2 weeks off the winter of ‘76 due to heavy snow and the fuel crisis.
grail are you in Ohio? we got SLAMMED in 76 (and 78) i remember being forbidden to go outside because the snow was higher than my head. come to think of it i did a lot a crafts and drawing then too to keep busy and push away the stir crazies
i absolutely agree. that would be extremely fun. a chatboard. but then i would get NOTHING done at all.
so Caucel you are only 2 hours (or so) earlier than Ohio time. (according to your post 5 hours ago it was 1 am it’s 740 here now)
It’s nice to see a Dad who actually enjoys spending time with his kid! In all other comics, parents are always horrified by snow days, because they don’t want to be around their kids.
I lived next door to the manager of the company that ran the school busses and he made the decision. My mother always knew if there was a snow day before the local radio station, but she wouldn’t tell me and always made me get up to listen to the radio.
I notice Lio is playing fair this time and not using his dragon bomber (of course, his dad was nice enough to pretend it was an official snow day even though it wasn’t……..)
Since you never see Lio’s dad working, I like to imagine he’s got a bit of a talent as an inventor also (which is where Lio gets it from) and invented something or somethings that enabled him to retire comfortably. He certainly never seems to lack for money to buy Lio things. I would postulate that perhaps Lio’s mom died during from the result of an invention gone wrong, but that’s going too dark for me.
With homeschooling, there was never a NEED to have a snow day, but I’d call one if there was enough snow to play in. (Ice storms don’t count.) Of course, that was just really outdoor P.E. day plus science experiments involving snow, so it was technically still a school day - I just cancelled most of the indoor subjects for the day.
yeah, i guess so caucel :) i’m not really one for networking. i don’t do facebook at all. i also suffer from a rare condition called dial up.
don’t i KNOW it! my dad was a creep. he sent me to school sick 1 time just because he didn’t want to have me in the house during the day (2nd shift) and they had to call him to demand he come get me. not only was it excrutiatingly embarrasing, but i ended up sicker because of it too! jerk. i wish i had Lio’s dad!

If I could do it all over again, I would choose to spend time paying in the snow with my kids. Times like these are too precious.

What a nice Dad.
Even when we had a snow day, my Dad usually went to work. We shoveled and shoveled.

sometimes spending time with your children is more important than sending them off to school.
