As a homeschool mom, I assure you that he may think he’s playing hooky, but he’s just extended his school year by a day.

He’s playing hooky by going to a public school because no one has to do anything there!

In our homeschool, the school year is over when we get all the lessons & tests done for each curriculum. You’ve got to realize, if a homeschool kid is playing hooky (and mom knows he’s safe) she’s getting an unscheduled vacation day. (Unless his siblings didn’t go with him.) He might get some other form of punishment (I made my strong-willed son do my household chores if he was a pain-in-the-butt for me concerning school) but whatever form of punishment I’d give a kid, I’d try to pick one that didn’t make me feel like I was also getting punished.

As a homeschool grad now attending a state college, I can say that I’ve experienced both worlds. And I assure you … I missed nothing by receiving a home education!! :)
