I think he’s just being a watchful father! A kiddie pool is not something to dive in to. Kids do crazy, unsafe things because, most of the time, they don’t know any better. They don’t know how to think ahead regarding consequences. They live for the moment. Hmmmm - come to think about it, they do the same thing as teenagers!!!!
