Mean-spirited? I’m deeply hurt. When I wrote this series, I really was trying to reflect what it’s like for someone who hasn’t been in the job market for years to have to go back to work, and Sarah is never going to make her daughter’s choices easier. I don’t know about you guys, but I have yet to see a mother-daughter relation ship that isn’t fraught with conflict.
