Transcript:
Satchel: Say hello to the new writer for the daily crate liner! Bucky: Hello, Satchel's imaginary friend. Satchel: No, it's me. I'm the new local writer. Bucky: No, you're not. You're the old loco biter. Satchel: You shouldn't make fun of influential people. Bucky: Trust me, I'm not.

what’s that you say Bucky, “Loco biter”? Shame on you, misquoting is supposed to be the reporter’s job.

Is that similar to the Daily Bird Cage Liner?

Influential. And out the other. . ..

How did just a nasty dude get inside such a cute little kitty? Yeah, Panel three is great…

So nice to see that Bucky does regular “cat” things – so cute sleeping at the window!
Elsboy about 12 years ago
If Bucky is that “puffy” lying on his side then it looks like it might be time for him to go on the diet kitty food again. Of course, Rob and Satch will pay the price just like last time…

Regarding newspapers, when I worked for a small TV station in the news dept., we referred to the local newpaper as “the daily morning wipe.”

Bucky reminds me so much of people I work with. If they aren’t the ones coming up with the ideas they put everyone else’s down or act so disinterested when someone is telling their own ideas. This comic is so true to life. Great job Darby for bringing this out!

Seriously, Bucky is the ultimate cat. Love those two panels of windowsill slumber and then outstretched paws.

And great lines for using on our friends who don’t read the strip. “No, you’re not. You’re the old loco biter…” “Hello to Bucky’s imaginary friend…” Wow. Can I use that…yes. Redefine them.

I think this is about the only time I can recall Bucky looking/acting like a cat. I like it!

Satchel will look natural as a reporter with a “press” card in his 50’s circa hat ….‘cept he won’t just thoughtfully nibble on the end of a pencil he will gnash it to splinters. oh dear…
Arianne about 12 years ago
I keep coming back here to look at this again… it’s so delightful! Beautiful, beautiful work, Mr. Conley!!!

Yes…. this is he most natural and cat-like I’ve ever seen Bucky looking too.
Less “cartoon-y”… softer and slinkier…melting into the windowsill like a real kitty.Oh no…. he isn’t getting soft in his old age, is he?Naw… he’s still a chubby bundle of mean.

Third panel – Pull the Cat Bell tail!I knew someone that secretly taught his 5 year-old daughter to do this …… until his wife found out. Then he was sleeping in the garage for a week……..

Sometimes I wonder if I am stupid for liking this strip. But today’s is a perfect example of why. I like the pretty pen-and-ink drawing.
