Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for December 10, 2008
Transcript:
Dad: Baldo: these things happen. Baldo: But dad, I don't deserve to be squashed like this! Baldo: I work way harder than Joey! Why does he get promoted?! Dad: I would say "life's not fair," but I think you know that. Baldo: What?! Life's not fair?! You've never told me that before! Dad: No? Well... uh... Baldo: Why don't you tell me these things!!

Yo! Did any of you read Carlos Castellanos’ comment about the strip yesterday? I did read his. Well, I think he got the point about the job at Mr.Rod’s auto shop. I hate to see the person who did not do nothing around the work and became a “brown nose.” I would be pissed off. I work harder as Baldo did. I don’t care what kind of anything we are but I believe that we are only human being and like to work harder that we deserve at work and earn the money that will be better than nothing. I never got the better promotion that I worked at old job for 20 years so I decided to leave and find another job. So be it. Right now I heard that they at City of Reno were laid off. Too bad! That was their losses!

Wildmustang, I think Mr. Castellanos was saying that they do the strip more to portray the was life IS, as opposed to how it ought to be. A case in point is your very own situation that you have graciously shared with us. I am wondering if they are preparing to tackle a concept known as “White Privilege” I hope they are for that would be a first in the comic strips, as far as I am aware.

Regarding the discussion a couple days ago about the Peter Principle:
It doesn’t say that the least competent person is promoted or that businesses try to find the job at which a person is least competent. It says they promote the MOST competent person UNTIL they become incompetent. The Peter Principle assured you that even though your boss was an idiot, (s)he used to be able to do something. Just for the record.
